Monarch Docent Volunteer Training (part 2)

Join the Museum’s Monarch Docent team! Inspire visitors to take action to protect the endangered Western monarch butterfly. Help visitors locate any clustering or otherwise visible monarchs at Pacific Grove's Monarch Sanctuary. Help visitors discover the wonder of these magnificent creatures.

Benefits include:

  • In-depth training on the natural history and conservation of the Western monarch butterfly.

  • Interacting with visitors from all around the world in a beautiful outdoor setting.

  • Becoming skilled in informal science education.

To become a Monarch Docent, you must join the Monarch Docent Training. The 2025 training consists of two parts:

  1. Thursday, September 25, 5:30 - 7:30 pm: a virtual lecture on monarch butterfly natural history and conservation

  2. Saturday, September 27, 11:00 am - 12:00 pm: an in-person orientation to the Monarch Sanctuary and interpretive tools for docents

Sign up for both trainings with the link below. For questions, reach out to our Volunteer Coordinator.
