For all new teachers planning a LiMPETS Sandy Beach Monitoring program for their class: join us for a teacher workshop.
Workshop attendees will:
Receive a 5-unit curriculum aligned with NGSS and Common Core
Get hands-on training on Pacific mole crab data collection and analysis, including in-class dissection lab and post-field trip reporting
• Gain valuable information on the logistics of field science
• Develop experience in using scientific tools and protocols
• Receive a $100 stipend
Students who participate in LiMPETS will:
• Conduct community science and collect data that contributes to a 20+ year database used by scientists for research & policy
• Learn about indicator species, coastal habitats, climate change, and human impact
• Connect to and learn about protecting local ecosystems and communities
