Join naturalists from the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History for a guided tidepool bioblitz at the Great Tidepool. We will be using the iNaturalist app to take pictures and identify as many species as possible. This family-friendly program is part of the global iNaturalist City Nature Challenge.
Details
Registration: Not required. Open for all ages.
You should bring: Water shoes or waders: your feet will get wet! You will also want to use the iNaturalist app to upload pictures of tidepool creatures. We’ll provide a tidepool bingo for kids.
Location: Great Tidepool on Ocean View Ave, between Asilomar Ave and Lighthouse Ave. There is street parking.
Tide: Low tide is at 1:49 pm. The event goes from 1:15 - 2:15 pm.
Caution: When tidepooling, always be gentle. Do not pick up animals, turn over rocks, or in any way disturb wildlife. Leave all shells, rocks, algae, and driftwood where you find them. Climb rocks slowly and cautiously, as they are slippery. Always keep an eye on ocean waves.
