Student Research Symposium

Third Annual Student Research Symposium: April 26, 2025

Registration will be available February 20, 2025. Projects will be selected on April 14.

Students in grades 6-12 are invited to share their field research at the Student Research Symposium at the Museum.  Students can communicate their findings in a research poster or community action project. Projects are reviewed by a panel of local scientists and all student-scientists receive feedback on their work and learn about careers and further study in science and conservation. This event is fully bilingual and brings families and the community together to celebrate the work of the student-scientists.

  • The Student Research Symposium is a celebration of student-scientists. Their families and the general public are invited to view their work on display at the Museum. Bus transportation is provided for participants and families from South County and Salinas. This is a fully bilingual event.

    Symposium Agenda

    • Welcome – Spark talks by Invited Scientist

    • Student-scientists and families participate in Hands-on science activities in the Museum and at Lovers Point

    • Lunch for participants and families

    • Student-scientists talk with scientist-reviewers at their posters. Families view posters or continue to explore hands-on activities.
