The Museum, and Museum Store, are located blocks from the beach and a minute drive from the Monterey Bay Aquarium in beautiful historic downtown Pacific Grove.

The Museum will be closed Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day, Saturday, October 5th, from 3pm to 6:30pm to prepare for the Annual Gala, Thursday, November 28th, for the Thanksgiving holiday, Wednesday, December 25th, for the Christmas holiday, and Wednesday, January 1st, for New Years Day.

Unlimited parking on two sides of Jewell Park, directly across the street from the front entrance of the Museum. Two-hour limit on Central Avenue and Grand Avenue. All day parking in parking lot on Forest Avenue on Saturday and Sunday only. Handicap parking is located on Forest Avenue parking lot (No parking lot city permit is required for the handicap parking space).
Directions from Highway 1
From Highway 1, North or South directions, take the Highway 68
West Exit. Stay in your right lane. This road turns into Forest
Avenue. Follow Forest for 1 block past Lighthouse Avenue. The
Museum is located at the corner of Forest and Central Avenues.

Groups of 10 people or more must make a group reservation. Local group visits are free with a suggested donation of $2 per adult. If you would like a curated experience for your group, the museum can arrange that with enough advance notification. These experiences start at an additional $5 per visitor.
All scheduled school groups are free, and are not charged admission. Please go to our Class Field Trips page to learn more and to submit a reservation request.

Monarch butterflies overwinter in Pacific Grove every year from November through mid February. Pacific Grove's monarch overwintering site is located at 250 Ridge Road off of Lighthouse Avenue in downtown Pacific Grove. Museum sanctuary docents are available everyday during these months at the sanctuary from 12-3 to assist with monarch viewing. Admission is free with donations appreciated.
