Member-Exclusive: Xingu Art

Museum members are invited to attend a private lecture on Thursday, August 31st, beginning at 5:30 p.m., with local collector Dean Silvers. Silvers, a local history author and retired elementary school teacher, has collected art throughout the world. He will share one of the art sets he has acquired over his four decades of collecting. This set, which he recently donated to the Museum, is made by the native cultures of the Xingu area of Brazil, a location that continues to face challenges wrought by climate change, deforestation, and many of the others issues that threaten the area’s indigenous peoples. These amazing artifacts will be on display during this member-exclusive event.
There is limited seating for this event. Please reserve a spot by emailing Museum Membership Coordinator Jessica Faddis at faddis@pgmuseum.org. She can be reached by telephone at 831.648.5716.
