Lecture: Fog -- Let's Catch It

Even during a drought, fog blankets parts of our coast. What if we could capture water from the fog and use it? Discover the work being done on a statewide passive fog water collection network. Dr. Daniel M. Fernandez will discuss and describe  the process involved in fog collection and show some of the data that he and his group have gathered regarding the potential moisture available from fog around the state.

A professor at CSU Monterey Bay, Fernandez has been working on collecting water from fog for the past decade. As a result of funding from the National Science Foundation for the past two years, he and his group have expanded their earlier network, which had several fog collectors in Marina and Carmel, to one that extends from Big Sur through Arcata.

Admission is $5 (free for Museum Members)
