COLLECTION

GENERAL ARCHIVAL
COLLECTION

THE POINT PINOS
LIGHTHOUSE COLLECTION

The Tuttle Collection is comprised of approximately 700 photographs that were made in the late 19th and early 20th century by Charles Kirkham Tuttle, a Pacific Grove, California pharmacist. The images document the formative years of Pacific Grove's history. Tuttle dispensed these photos along with his prescriptions to patrons of his Lighthouse Avenue drug store. These images have been scanned and printed from the original glass-plate negatives.

The General Archival Collection is made up of photographs of diverse subjects by varied photographers. Most of these images were created in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and have been scanned and printed from original prints in the Museum's collection, obtained from numerous sources. While many of these images are of Pacific Grove, there are also images of Monterey County and beyond.

The Point Pinos Lighthouse Collection has more than 125 images related to the Point Pinos Lighthouse, including the Lighthouse itself, its lens & machinery, outbuildings, grounds, lightkeepers & other people, maps & prints, ships, and local shipwrecks. The images were created by a variety of photographers and cartographers, and were produced in the 19th & 20th centuries. The images have been scanned from photographs in the Museum's collection.
