Hopkins Marine Station
building at Lovers Point. Unpainted wood building and water tower appears shorter than in 05.0-292-B. Crates, barrels, and whale bones at side of building. What is now know as Hopkins Marine Station was originally called Hopkins Sea Side Laboratory. Built in 1892 on land at Lovers Point gifted from the Pacific Improvement Co., it was the first marine lab on the American west coast. It was moved to its current location at Point Cabrillo (or China Point) in 1916. It is a branch of Stanford University's Department of Biological Sciences.
